  • 1 lb Ground Beef Lean ground beef for a healthier choice
  • 2 medium Potatoes Cubed; Yukon Gold preferred
  • 1 medium Onion Diced
  • 2 medium Tomatoes Chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 tbsp Ginger Freshly grated
  • 1 tsp Garam Masala Quality recommended
  • 1 tsp Cumin Toasted for flavor
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric
  • 1-2 tsp Chili Powder Adjust to taste
  • 1 tsp Ground Coriander
  • to taste Salt
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil Can use ghee
  • 1 cup Water Substitute broth for more flavor
For Garnish
  • to taste Fresh Cilantro Optional but highly recommended

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat for 1-2 minutes until shimmering.
  2. Add the diced onion and sauté for around 5 minutes until softened and golden.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Introduce ground beef, breaking it apart, and cook for approximately 7 minutes until browned.
  5. Add chopped tomatoes and spices (cumin, ground coriander, turmeric, chili powder, garam masala). Cook for around 5 minutes.
  6. Stir in cubed potatoes, season with salt, and add water. Cover and simmer for about 20 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh cilantro and optional lime juice before serving.
