Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1 cup of breadcrumbs, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, and your choice of seasonings. Shape into 4 patties.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. Sear the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Remove patties and sauté 1 sliced onion in the same skillet for 5-7 minutes until soft and golden brown.
  4. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of flour over the sautéed onions, stirring continuously for 1 minute.
  5. Gradually whisk in 2 cups of beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, and simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  6. Return cooked patties to the skillet and let them simmer in the gravy for about 10 minutes.
  7. Serve patties with gravy on top and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
