  • 4 fillets firm white fish (cod or halibut)
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil or canola oil

For the Aromatics
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 3 stalks fresh scallions, sliced or chives
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons gluten-free soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lime or lemon juice

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels, then season both sides with salt and pepper. Rest for 5 minutes.
  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Place the fish fillets skin-side down in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown. Flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. In a small pan, heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and sauté the ginger, garlic, and scallions for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Pour in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and simmer for 1 minute. Adjust consistency with water if necessary.
  6. Squeeze lime or lemon juice over the fish, plate, and drizzle with the ginger-scallion sauce. Serve warm.
