Preparation Steps
  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine 8 oz of softened cream cheese, 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and creamy for 2–3 minutes.
  2. Incorporate the Blueberries: Gently fold in 1 cup of fresh blueberries into the cream cheese mixture. Be careful not to break the berries.
  3. Layer the Bread: Take a 10×14-inch baking dish and layer the bottom with cubed French bread from about two loaves.
  4. Add the Cream Cheese Mixture: Spread the creamy blueberry mixture evenly over the layer of bread, ensuring all cubes are coated.
  5. Prepare the Custard Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups of milk, 8 large eggs, remaining tablespoon of vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg.
  6. Soak the Bread: Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layered bread and cream cheese, pressing down any protruding pieces.
  7. Add Topping Blueberries: Sprinkle an additional cup of blueberries on top of the assembled casserole.
  8. Refrigerate Overnight: Cover the dish tightly and refrigerate overnight for at least 8 hours.
  9. Preheat the Oven: When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  10. Bake the Casserole: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes.
