Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef or turkey, cooking until browned and fully cooked, approximately 5-7 minutes.
  2. Add the finely chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the meat. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the onion becomes translucent.
  3. Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper into the meat mixture. Let it simmer for 5-7 minutes.
  4. While the sloppy joe mixture is simmering, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of thick-cut bread. Place the slices on a baking sheet with the buttered sides facing down.
  6. Spoon a generous amount of the sloppy joe mixture onto each slice of bread, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
