Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse them. Boil a pot of salted water and blanch the beans for 2-4 minutes until bright green.
  2. Transfer the blanched beans to an ice bath for 2 minutes to halt the cooking.
  3. Toast the sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Melt the butter in the skillet over medium heat, add minced garlic and sauté for 30-45 seconds.
  5. Add the drained green beans to the skillet, toss to coat with garlic butter, and heat for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle the toasted almonds and optional lemon zest and juice over the beans, toss gently to combine.
  7. Serve immediately, garnishing with fresh herbs if desired.
