Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water with active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour with salt. Whisk together.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients along with melted butter. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled.
  6. Punch down the dough, divide into 8 portions, and shape into pretzels.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F and boil 10 cups of water with baking soda.
  8. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  9. Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with a mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Let cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.
