Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish with unsalted butter.
  2. Melt unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add sliced Vidalia onions and pinch of salt. Caramelize for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine caramelized onions with black pepper, garlic powder, dried thyme, sharp cheddar cheese, sour cream, and eggs. Mix gently.
  4. Crush Ritz crackers and mix in grated Parmesan. Spread half into the bottom of the greased pie dish to form the crust.
  5. Pour the filling over the crust and top with remaining cracker and Parmesan mixture to create a crunchy layer.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
