Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9-inch pie dish with unsalted butter.
- Melt unsalted butter in a skillet over medium heat, then add sliced Vidalia onions and pinch of salt. Caramelize for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- In a mixing bowl, combine caramelized onions with black pepper, garlic powder, dried thyme, sharp cheddar cheese, sour cream, and eggs. Mix gently.
- Crush Ritz crackers and mix in grated Parmesan. Spread half into the bottom of the greased pie dish to form the crust.
- Pour the filling over the crust and top with remaining cracker and Parmesan mixture to create a crunchy layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing.
